Say it Ain't So!

We always knew there was something going on with Barry Bonds. 73? We sensed that there never really were any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Colin Powell's presentation to the U.N. had an 1950's science fiction film sensibility to the entire enterprise long before there was any hard evidence that there never was any hard evidence. Martha Stewart's perfidy came as a surprise to... nobody.

But now comes news that Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is the target of a federal criminal investigtion.

Are we not to place our faith in anyone?

And who is next target for the feds? Bart Simpson?

(As to anyone questioning my news judgement by my ranking of this as my most important news item of the day, as it turns out, the Krispy Kreme story attracted more readers than any other news story today on Yahoo!'s news site-- drawing even more people who wanted to know about the health of the Pope. I also personally admit to having read the Krispy Kreme story first, but I also want to wish the Pope well!)
